Capellini is rod-shaped, but these are long strands just like spaghetti pasta. Capellini D’Angelo is thinner than your regular Capellini. You can witness capellini in a nest-like shape in many restaurants. It’s also called angel hair and most people call it the thinnest pasta in the world. Although Capellini D’Angelo is a competitor in the thinnest pasta category, Capellini enjoys a better reputation.

Where did Cappellini originate?

Capellini is an intriguing name indeed. This strand of pasta has garnered a lot of attention, and there are different ways of cooking it. A few herbs, butter, and meats or vegetables can be a great addition. 

As for the origin of this pasta, it can be confusing. Some believe it originated in Genoa, Naples, and others contest that it was founded in the Ciociaria in Central Italy. 

Capellini is by far the thinnest pasta type served in the shape of a nest. 

What Does Cappellini Mean?

Capellini means little hair in Italian. The name goes with the appearance because Capellini is quite thin and looks like strands of hair.

What Is the Difference Between Cappellini and Vermicelli 

Vermicelli and Capellini are not the same. Although both are Italian pasta with strands, the shape is very different. For example, Vermicelli has a round appearance whereas capellini is thin and flat. Vermicelli is supposed to be thicker than capellini, and you can co-op this in soups or sauces. 

You may also get confused between spaghetti and capellini, but the latter is thinner than the former one. 

Traditional dishes that use Cappellini 

Capellini can be cooked in different ways. Let us share a few traditional recipes that are easy to make in the comfort of your home. 

First, you can make the famous Capellini Pomodoro. Take a skillet, add olive oil, and throw some diced fresh garlic into it. Now, add canned tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Alongside, you should boil the capellini pasta in hot water. 

Once done, drain it well, and the pasta to the sauce. Garnish it with herbs, and Parmesan cheese, and serve it hot. 

Second, you can cook capellini with garlic, lemon, and butter too. Top it up with Parmesan cheese and some sautéed shrimp or prawns. Succulent prawns, butter, garlic, and capellini are excellent preparation. It’s light, flavorful, and simple to make.
